Building engineer

Onesta has a structural engineering department with an engineer who is a member of the OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec). We conduct inspections, assessments, and prepare plans and specifications for renovation projects of existing buildings (modifications, reinforcement, expansion, and correction of structural problems) as well as for new construction . The engineer's plans include details of the structural elements required for the project, such as beams, columns, load-bearing walls, structural slabs, retaining walls, foundations, and connecting elements like stirrups, anchor bolts, screws, steel plates, etc.

Whatever your needs, whether for structural problems or modification or construction projects, we offer the following services:

Expertise on the spot

A structural assessment includes an on-site visit so that the professional can evaluate one or more structural components of the residential building (beams, columns, slabs, joists, roof, load-bearing walls, foundation walls, footings, retaining walls, piles, etc.). This evaluation is essential for analyzing problems and proposing appropriate solutions.

Thus, an evaluation of the structure is necessary for:

1- Increase the load-bearing capacity of a floor or roof;

2- Solve a problem of subsidence of the foundation walls (level survey and pile plans);

3- Remove structural elements such as the load-bearing wall (replace with a beam and columns);

4- Modify the existing structure;

5- Add another floor to a building;

6- Carry out expansion work;

7- Replace old or deteriorated load-bearing walls ;

8- Calculate the foundations and slab for flood zones (Waterproof foundation);

9- Calculate the load for a structural element, such as a beam or a column.

Structuredesign calculs and plans

Our building engineer is able to design steel, concrete and wood structures for residential buildings.

Here are the professional services offered by our engineering firm:

1- Carrying out an inspection with a detailed survey of the structure;

2- Analysis of the structure of the building in order to arrive at an appropriate solution;

3- Structural expertise for hidden defects and detailed report;

4- Modifications and reinforcement of the structure;

5- Subsidence of foundations and piling plan;

6- Design of a new building;

7- Waterproof foundations;
